We need two things to get a job: Education and Skills.

Get Smart

It's NO lie, You NEED Skills to earn the bucks!
Don't be fooled! Education is the key! Earning a high school diploma will open up the job market. Employers want their employees to have at least a basic education! Finding a job without completion of basic education can prove difficult.

If you're STILL in School, STAY in School, and read High School Not For You?

Skills can be gained through education & training, volunteering, internships, apprenticeships, education, and employment.

Internships

Unpaid Internships are a great way to get your foot in the door of an agency or business that you might like to work for. It's an opportunity to demonstrate that you have the potential to be an excellent employee. Once you're there, it might be hard to for your boss to let you go. They might discover a need to hire you. Also provides a great job reference.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are training programs in a trade, art or business designed over a specific period of time. Check out the unions in Western Massachusetts.

Jobs

Every job you'll ever have will give you skills. They can be soft skills, like working with people, conflict management, project management, or they can be hard skills like cooking, laying brick, designing a website, planting a garden. A job also provides the opportunity for an excellent reference. Leaving your job well will ensure that!
